I find it hard to tell if having followers means anything on any of the platforms. I suspect you’re rewarded somehow by the various algorithms, but ultimately your success will be determined by your true fans. If you can get enough true fans, who want to read everything you produce, then they’ll always drive enough early interest to make the algos take notice. Paid subs are true fans! But not being a paid sub doesn’t mean I’m not a true fan :)
