I Ordered an Apple Vision Pro Today!
Toy, or spatial thingamabob?
I ignored the first two generations of iPhone because, what does Apple know about cellphones? I never missed the boat again, being an opening day purchaser of every new phone from the 3 to the 12 before I got a grip. Now I skip a generation or two, like a child who can fake being a mature adult.
When something really new comes along though, I lose all control. And yet I totally missed the announcement that pre-order sales for the Apple Vision Pro were starting TODAY, January 19th. Thank you Nikhil Vemu, Medium’s resident Apple expert, for alerting me!
The Vision Pro is expensive enough that it wasn’t already sold out when I logged into the Apple Store at 10am. I was nervous — I’m a Canadian resident and I knew this fantastic new virtual reality tool was only going to be available in the US.
I considered just waiting for it to be available in Canada, but then realized it was futile. I don’t have the willpower. But I do have a winter condo in South Beach, and a trip booked for the day after availability of the headset, February 2nd.
I prayed to the internet gods that Apple would have the foresight to enable foreign credit cards and addresses being used if a product was going to be picked up…
