RC, it’s here. It’s not going away. I checked out an AI writing tool in the new ChatGPT store that purports to write like a human. I thought, “I don’t think so” and promptly got the app and tried using it to craft something that a human would write, just so I could see how close the competition is. It came scary close.
I think in the future people will read my writing (and yours) specifically because we’re human and we want to read human stories. But the AI ones will be better written than most.
And then we’ll just write for fun, and enjoy the engagement with other writers. Which is exactly where many of us are now.
I abhor AI writers, but the best writers of the future will write in conjunction with AI. I think the value of my post is in my responses, not in the AI questions. Yes agreed it will given some people the wrong idea and that’s not great. But the AI journal will make peoples’ lives better and for me, the trade off is worth it.
As always, I love the conversation.
