Why not say “I write for the New York Times”?

onse than “I used to write for The New York Times.” It helps to establish that I know what I’m ta…a prospective client asks, “Who are you to tell me how to write?” there is no better response than “I used to write for The New York Times.” It helps to establish that I know what I’m talking about.

Why not say “I write for the New York Times”? Presumably you will again. I read a while ago that I shouldn’t say I can’t speak Spanish, but rather, that I’m still learning.
